UCF has fired head basketball coach Kirk Speraw after 17 seasons. Speraw has led UCF to four NCAA tournament appearances but has not really been competitive in Conference USA. So the question now is, why is the basketball program expected to “compete at the highest level” according to AD Keith Tribble, but not the football program?
Clearly he does not believe the football team is competing at the highest level? Does he? Hey Keith. You aren’t going to let 17 years go by on this one are you? I’m not getting any younger. Neither are the rest of the fans.

So Kirk wins some games and has some tough losses, he gets fired. O’Leary puts up the worst offense in college football and nothing happens? Unless Tribble had some epiphany this year about where UCF athletics should be, I see a bit of unfairness.
In other news, how did I miss UCF signing with Nike? Good job Nike and UCF. It’s a natural fit, and maybe, just maybe, the gold jerseys will be retired.

That is why if O’Leary does his every other year tank job this year, his feet need to be held to the fire. We just paid our new basketball coach, who was not a heck of a lot better at Marshall than Speraw was here, a boat load of money. This guy better win and win HUGE! If that happens, it will really put the pressure on the football program. One thing we cannot afford, is to become a basketball school. Once that happens, you can kiss your football program goodbye.

And as far as the jerseys go, I don’t have a problem with the gold jerseys. It’s the white helmets I have a problem with. Our school colors are black and gold. When we wore black jerseys last year, it looked like our colors were black and white. There has no gold at all. When we wore gold, same thing. It looked like our colors were gold and white. What’s with all the white?
If we are going to wear gold jerseys, then how about black helmets? If we’re going to wear black jerseys, then how about gold helmets? You can keep the white pants if white means that much to you.
