The Cougars come to town

By FCOadmin. Posted in General | 4 Comments »

This week will be a perfect opportunity to grade the Knights and O’Leary. We will see whether O’Leary’s style of football can truly succeed in this conference. Houston, a top 15 team, comes to Bright House Stadium. Houston is your typical C-USA team. They have a superb offense, and not much defense. If you saw highlights of their last game against Tulsa, you know what I mean. They scored 10 points in the last 27 seconds to pull out a 46-45 win.  As we all know, UCF couldn’t score 46 points in a month. But, when not playing the #2 team in the nation, it takes a while to score that many on UCF’s defense too. This game is the irresistable force vs. the immovable object.  It will be interesting to see who will have their way. One thing we will know for sure is how UCF will stand after the game. If the Knights win and it’s a low scoring game, then O’Leary can claim that his style CAN succeed in this conference. If Houston wins in a shootout, the naysayers will be able to point out that you must have a high powered offense in this league.  As good as UCF’s defense is, I don’t think we can totlally shut down their offense. We must score some points.

I’m guessing they will. They said on TV they were game time decisions last week. So i would expect them to be well enough to go this week.

we will keep it close for a half. But the D will be exhausted because our Offense is the immovable object.

Im Shocked, Wow’ed, Elated, and Pissed.
I am extremely happy that UCF won so don’t get me wrong.
I am not pissed because a loss would help GOL be gone and now will probably stay.
I am pissed because this win showed us 3 things.

First is that even though the score indicated it was close, that is not the case. We dominated both sides of the game, until we had a big lead. We then went away from the team we can be to the team we have been. That play calling of trying to pray we can win almost lost it for us. We needed to go one more TD to stomp on their throats so to speak. Come on Coach.

Second, Since we see what this team can do when are aggressive and play correctly we can win against a ranked team. That makes last week loss even more intolerable. We gave that game up early with the offense, we did not play to our strengths. We could of been at-least tied at halftime and given the Texas team a real scare.

Third, It shows we have the talent, YES we have the recruitment talent to make a strong team. This win just shows the inconsistent of coaching, It comes down to coaching. If we had Strong or Bowden we might have more wins, I now expect more wins from this team.

Its a great win, but now the evidence is clear, its not the talent thats the problem
