The rest of the season

By FCOadmin. Posted in General | 7 Comments »

We’ve got Rice,  Marshall,  Texas,  Houston, Tulane, and UAB. We need to win four of those games to get a bowl bid. At 6-6, we may get passed over. At 7-5, I think we get in.  Marshall, Tulane, And Houston are home games. Marshall and Tulane I feel we should win. Houston will be tough. That leaves Rice, Texas and UAB on the road. Rice should be an easy win. Texas is a definate loss. So it may very well come down to the final game of the season on the road against UAB. Remember last year? Oh boy.

Last year? Hmm, from what I see we’re still in that same season. I suppose there are some differences. The DBs aren’t as good, some faces have changed, and there are fewer season ticket holders.

I know how UCF football can be fixed. O’Leary needs to go talk to UCF baseball coach Terry Rooney on how to recruit players. UCF baseball’s recruiting class is ranked #10 on one poll and #4 on another. Clearly Coach Rooney knows what he’s doing. As for winning, O’Leary should head over to the UCF women’s soccer team. They are ranked #4 on the RPI (just learned this, it determines who goes to the tournament). Unrelated, but the Jordan kid got UCF a mention on ESPN’s Pardon the Interruption. Granted it was for something stupid (what shoes he should wear since UCF is an Adidas school, and the Jordon name is associated with Nike), but I’ll take any non-negative mention of the school at this point.

Now Hank. We’re not quite as bad as last year. Last year we only won 4 times all year. We didn’t get win #3 until what, week 9? I don’t see us winning any fewer than six this year. I know we’ll beat Rice. And I’m pretty sure about Marshall and Tulane. Maybe the schedule is easier this year. I don’t know. But I think we a little bit better. Nowhere near where we should be, but a little better.

We are all set to go (plane tickets, hotel, game tickets) to Austin to see us lose to TX; but now after this crap season, it doesn’t even sound fun anymore!!
And by that, I mean, last year we went to Boston and watched us lose to BC; but it was still fun…

Please somebody tell me what will it take to get rid of O’leary…. what is he holding over somebody’s head that is keeping him around?

He has a huge buyout. Even though UCF is now the largest school in the state and third largest in the nation as far as undergrad enrollment, as a new school, we do not have the big money alums yet. Schools like Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Notre Dame, etc call up the big car dealership owners and big chain store aowners who went to school there and say “we need a new coach, can you help?” and those guys write a check. We don’t have that yet.

Who else will be pissed if we pay 3mil for baby J to wear daddy’s shoes but won’t pay that to get rid of O’Leary. To hank’s comment about recruting, I saw a poll last year that had our class like within 5 spots of USF. The question is what is he doing with that talent when he gets them? Going 29-39 is about it. That is 100% bad coaching. And to agree with hank on OLeary’s bad recruiting…our 3 top QB’s are a walk on, a transfer, and a transfer playing safety…that is horrible recruiting at QB, because he did not recruit any of them and the ones he recruit are not even in the discussion

What? UCF has to pay so MJ’s kid can wear Nike? Count me among the pissed. We better not pay those greedy bastards a nickel unless this kid guarantees us a large stadium expansion when he graduates.
