I don’t believe in moral victories. A loss is a loss and they all suck. But 27-7 to the #9 team isn’t completely terrible. It could’ve been worse. Hopefully we can win the games we should and get to a bowl.
no way, this was a winnable game. horrible option call when game was turning our way. this guy is a loser.

I completely disagree. Although we didn’t get destroyed, we had our chance to make this game and potentially win it and yet again, we found a way to screw it up. We missed a field goal on our opening drive. Our defense turns around and plays as well as they can. The turning point though was definitely in the 3rd quarter. Our defense had just got a stop; the fans were going nuts; Miami snaps it over their punter’s head and we get it on their 2. I’m at the game thinking, “No way! Here is our chance to put all the pressure on them with a TD!” Ball on their 2 and we have a coach that is notorious for running it up the middle. What do we do instead? Option pitch outside that loses 4 yards as Brynn Harvey got jacked up. WHY? We NEVER run option, aren’t fast enough to run it against a team with Miami’s speed. WHY THE HELL WOULD WE RUN IT? Play to your strengths! Run it up the middle 4 straight times and punch it in the end zone and watch Brighthouse become an insane house. Instead, the momentum shifted, our offense panicked and Hodges got crushed on 3rd down as his pass was picked. Game over…you don’t get anymore chances like that against a team like Miami.
Bottom line: coaching affected a game ONCE again in a crucial moment
I agree. But I don’t think running it up the middle 4 straight times would have gotten it in either. We were going up against superior athletes. That’s how these things happen. So I don’t blame the coaches for “trying something”. We complain all the time about how vanilla we are. So now we are going to complain when we aren’t? My point is I was hoping we wouldn’t have a game where the stands emptied at halftime. We did that. Sure a closer game would’ve been great. And maybe the game should have been closer. But that’s all I’m saying, it could’ve been worse.

I disagree. I think they had some momentum to punch it in from the two. Hodges made a big mistake in pitching out on the option. He could’ve saved face. I prefer Hodges over Calabrese anyday but his mistakes have proved to be game changing unfortunately. In this case O’Leary’s typical run up the gut method would’ve worked in my opinion. That said i wouldn’t have been surprised if Miami answered with a touchdown of there own. Regardless i started off as an O’Leary fan but now i am with those who think he needs to go.

I couldn’t disagree with you more. If you don’t win, you lose. It doesn’t get any more black and white than that. It won’t show in the C-USA standings that UCF lost to Miami, but played a decent game. The entire game shifted on one single play call. After UM had a bad snap on the punt, resulting in a 1st-and-goal for the Knights on the Miami 2 yard line, the brilliant coach, George O’Leary decided to run and option play. He should have been fired immediately after that play went down. As a result of one of the many bone head play calls in his UCF career, the Knights then had a 2nd-and-goal from the Miami 8 yard line, eventually leading to a Miami INT. And let’s be honest, UCF didn’t play a good or decent game, the Miami Hurricanes played as horribly as they could have possibly played, and still came out with a 27-7 win. UCF as a football program is a disgrace, as well as most fans of our program, who show no class what so ever, not to mention are not realistic with themselves either.

“We complain all the time about how vanilla we are. So now we are going to complain when we aren’t?”
That’s not the point. Many times this season we have run it up the middle on 3rd and long but then we don’t when it’s 1st and goal on the 2 yard line. That doesn’t make sense! I COMPLETELY blame the coaches for this horrible play call.
“But I don’t think running it up the middle 4 straight times would have gotten it in either. We were going up against superior athletes.”
I think any FBS team could get 2 yards on 4 carries up the middle against that Miami team.
My point is that the coaching destroyed what could have been a closer game. The players played fairly well with what they were given and I don’t fault them one bit.
Fire O’Leary!!!

If you can’t pound it in from two yards out in 4 plays then that is squarely on the players. To get cute from that down and distance indicates either a complete lack of faith in your players or just a complete lack of offensive play calling ability.
Either way it comes down to poor coaching, and its unacceptable!

On the bright side. A lot of kids from South Florida saw the game. Hopefully some will take a closer look at us now. Maybe some guys who might be thinking they can get immediate playing time, will say “UCF is looking pretty good to me right now.” We can dream. Right?
