Buffalo game

By FCOadmin. Posted in The game situations | 4 Comments »

Congrats to the team for winning tonight. That was a big one. Since we know Miami and  Texas are losses, at least we will be 2-2 in non conference games.  So this win was big.  Next week would be a huge win. It will even up the conference record and we would have four conference home games left. If we are to win next week, we better cut out some of the stupid mistakes we are still making. Running into the kicker? A delay of game at the goal line? We had two defenders both bite on the out move and had the pass been on target we were looking at being down 24-7. We do these things at ECU, we lose big. So we still have work to do but hey, we won. So let’s be happy.

Any win’s a good win! The delay of game penalty was just a ploy to run some time off the clock (which the officals quickly made sure didn’t happen). It also put the ball back a little further so the kicker could get a little better angle. What would have happened if Buffalo had jumped off sides? We get the ball on the 2 inch line and then what? Strange call from a strange coach. Hey, just 7 more years and we’ll be done with O’Leary.

Despite the win, we still have problems getting into the end zone and getting beat on trick plays twice in three games is definitely a coaching problem. We must win @ ECU next week! I’ll be at the Miami game, but expect I’ll be leaving during the third period out of disgust and a desire to beat the traffic back into town.

I’m not so sure about that. I think we were intending to go for it. I don’t know that we are smart enough to think on our feet like that. We don’t seem to be the smartest bunch. For instance, why are we kicking a field goal on 4th and 1 with over a minute and a half left? We make the first down and the game is over. We don’t make it we aren’t in much worse shape. The only thing we gain is a field goal won’t put us in OT. We give them the ball with plenty of time left to score the game winning TD. Do that against Houston and see what happens.

Unfortunately I was unable to see or hear the game. My info came in the form of many text messages from my friend at the game. My 2 weeks of fun in Florida is over, and I’m back in North Carolina, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. UCF is coming to my area to take on ECU. I will definitely be at the game, and I’ll be recruiting a few to come as well. I read up on the Buffalo game, and it sounds like Hodges is legit. I’ve often wondered what it would be like to have a real QB at UCF. I watched the UNC/ECU game this weekend, and UCF definitely has the tools necessary to beat ECU. The question is.. what UCF team will show up? I’m a naive optimist, and I still think that UCF can salvage a decent season. Yeah we don’t have the best recruits, my high school coaches made smarter football decisions than O’Leary does, and a host of other problems….. but there’s still a chance!

Yet another pet peeve. Hodges is clearly the best QB we have and yet he doesn’t get a start until game three? Props goes out to #81 who I may have referred to as “Stone Hands” in the past. He made a brliiliant catch yesterday. And I also called for #9 to get more balls thrown his way. The coaches now agree finally.
