That’s right people. FAU, just started playing football in 2001, now has won TWO bowl games. IN A ROW! Are we supposed to say now that we can’t expect to win bowl games at UCF? First we let USF blow right past us. That was bad enough. Now we have to sit here and watch FAU blow right on by? For those of who don’t think a guy like Phil Fulmer would be interested in coming to UCF, just look at FAU. They are coached by a guy who won a National Title at Miami. He also coached at Louisville and did such a great job the field there is named for him. You never know who might be interested in coaching here. Not if you don’t pursue them.

Even if Fulmer would be “interested”, I don’t think he is the answer. I think a young innovative coach would do much better, but it is not going to happen as long as O’Leary has a strangle hold on UCF. So we have to endure several more years of O’Leary ball, sure we may have a few winning seasons and may even win another CUSA divisional title. But in the end UCF will just be an average team without a direction of what it takes to become a top 25 team. The program has not moved forward with O’Leary at the helm, and it seems that the administration at UCF are fine with that, sorry to say.

It doesn’t necessarily have to be Fulmer. I just used that name as an example. There’s also Tuberville. There’s Tommy Bowden. There’s Terry Bowden. You don’t necessarily have to hire some rookie here. Not that that wouldn’t be a way to go. I think Charlie Strong would be great here. The point is that we don’t have to be stuck with the status quo. If we sell 5,000,000 t-shirts, we can buy O’Leary out. LOL. There has got to be a way to get rid of a coach who is failing miserably. Notre Dame made the samre dumb mistake by extending Weis. But CW has been put on notice that next year the Irish better be in a BCS Bowl or else. If we boot O’Leary and make him take us to court for his buyout money, it will most likely get settled for significantly less money. The “we can’t afford it” excuse just doesn’t wash. We can’t afford not to do it.

I fully agree. I went to school at UCF during the Kruz years and there was always this big dream of the Golden Knights becoming a big time team within the next decade. Well, the next decade has nearly passed and things are just way too stagnant. I am disappointed and believe that UCF is caught up in this O’Leary delusion.

I didn’t realize it was FAU’s 2nd bowl win. Wow… O’leary is nothing more than a bad financial investment. The brain trust took a risk thinking he’d bring us to top 25 promise land, but it failed. We shouldn’t keep pumping money into a bad investment. It’s bad enough I have to deal with my pro team having a horrible coach (Wade Phillips), but to have my college coach terrible as well? It seems they both attended the coaching school of stupid. I’m with you SLR. I figured by 2010 we’d be a legitimate Florida school contending with the likes of UF and FSU, yet here we are unable to match FAU. Let’s just hope FIT and UNF don’t get football programs.
