I know what you’re thinking out there. You’re thinking that I’m going to say that I was hoping we’d lose so we can get rid of O’Leary. Well you’re wrong. I don’t root against the Knights. I hope we win out and finish 5-7. I congratulate the team and the coaches on their win today. That includes O’Leary. If he does that more consistently, I’d be in his corner.
However, he does not do this consistently. This game proves that we have NO BUSINESS being 3-7. Marshall was at home fighting to become bowl eligible. It was Homecoming. And it was nasty out there. We had every reason to get crushed. And we win rather easily. So now we are 3-7. We’ve got two winnable games left. So now let’s look back at the season and think about why we’ll be home for the Holidays. Two Overtime losses, a 20-14 loss at Miami, a 17-6 loss at home vs So Miss that was closer than the score. ONE of those games goes in the win column and we would still be alive. That’s not even bringing up the fact we were up at the half against BC and Tulsa. It also doesn’t bring up that we got blown out by a team that hadn’t won a game in over a year in UTEP. We had a defense this year capable of winning eight or nine games. A mediocre offense to go with it and we win 7 easily. This is why we need new coaching.

your right on with what you are saying here. I am so happy for the win but it does not erase the overall failure of this season.

The offense is a complete failure.

I agree. This win over marshall does not change my opinion one bit. We are still not a very good football team. I just hope this win and maybe another win coming down the strech doesn’t cloud peoples judgement as to if coach GOL is starting to turn it around.
I’m not a big fan of the “game manager” type QB’s that GOL does. I like a QB who can make plays and is not afraid to make a mistake. UCF has always had good QB’s until GOL arrived on campus. Although we may compete in CUSA every other year or so, we are further away from beating the big boys.
Now that Syracuse is looking for a coach, maybe they can lure GOL away(please) and he can go back to where he is from.

UCF is a bunch of whiners. Most schools would have just FIRED this bum a long time ago. Who gives a coach a 10 year contract?!? He’s too old, out dated, and old school for our program. I remember his montra as he came in..”I don’t want any 5’8″ guys with heart.” Funny how most programs are succeeding with just such RB’s in the back. Mostly freshman, QB issues galore, completely inconsistent season after season….ETC…FIRE the bum and tell Orsini thanks for killing us with this contract!

I don’t think we are whining. I think we expect more from a program right smack in the middle of one of the nation’s hottest recruiting areas. Especially when we also have some of the best facilities in the country AND we play in a weak conference. If you can’t win here, then there is something wrong. Anyone want to guess what that something (someone) is?
You gotta give it to Orsini though, at least he’s consistent. 2 mil for June Jomes? WOW! That’s $2,000,000 per win. Almost makes Rich Rodriguez look like a bargain.
